The content for cohort 3 is focused for high school history teachers, although it is open to all who are interested and meet the requirements for participation. During year 3, we will explore the different ways war effects the economy and what the social implications are for that change. The course is designed by teachers of the High Desert working with Historian Dr. Kevin Hatfield from the University of Oregon. Having our teachers work with higher ed ensures that the course work will be targeted to meet our needs. The project will be divided into 5 units, with each unit requiring individual work and participation in online forums. Each unit will culminate with at a weekend workshop where we will participate in a dynamic lesson that can be modified to take back to our classrooms. We are also partnered with Oregon State University Cascades Campus, and they will provide support for classroom visits and peer coaching activities.
If you have questions, please get in touch with me (bill.rexford@gmail.com 541-718-8281), or better yet, talk to a past participant to find out how their experience went with this TAH project.
All workshops will be held locally, except for our Boise trip. There is no cost to you or your district for participating in this project.
